The Triangular Trip: Beacon of History, Memory & Fun On the 17th November, 2023. We embarked on an excursion to the Central Region of Ghana. We first took a straight drive to the country's number one mind blowing nation's reserve, The Kakum National Park. Where we had an amazing walk through on the canopy. Thereafter, the historic Elmina Castle was calling. We had a refreshing feel, look and brief history of the Castle. Some major areas of the Castle were; the compass, males and females dungeons, condemn room for males, female slaves yard, water reservoirs, slave chains, Governor's chamber and bed room, court room, military chamber, chapel, Canon and finally the door of no return straight to the ocean. Also the memories of the Cape Coast Castle cannot be underscored. The monument has similar apartments like the former, what makes the difference was that, the former (Elmina Castle) was purposely designed to serve as depot for their trading activities coupled with propagation of the gospel by the Dutch and Portuguese etc. while the latter (Cape Coast Castle) serve as monument for the captives for the Tran-Atlantic Slave Trade. Also the Cape Coast Castle has Library for the education of Mulatoes (African- European children), Cemetery for the burial of the Europeans. Again, bear it in mind that slaves who lost their lives before shipping to the new world were thrown directly into the ocean without any befitting burial. The only African - European who was buried in their cemetery was Philip Quaque, an educated mulato who later became a priest. In fact, it was just an amazing mind blowing trip indelible of the mind and emotion.
