JUST IN: 2024 NEWLY RECRUITED TEACHERS SET TO PICKET AT GES HEADQUARTERS

📍 Issue our Staff IDs & pay all arrears 📍

The newly posted teachers from Colleges of Education, (2022 batch)  without salaries or Staff Identities are far set to picket at the premises of  ministry of education and the finance ministry on Monday 23rd June, 2025.

Their concerns spread from non- issuance of staff IDs and or undue delay in salary payments despite being in active service for about ten good months.  Further details of their demands read as follows:

📍📍📍

NON-ISSUANCE OF STAFF IDs AND UNPAID SALARIES FOR NEWLY RECRUITED TEACHERS

Dear Director-General,We write to you respectfully as concerned and affected newly recruited teachers who were legitimately employed under the Ghana Education Service (GES) through the official recruitment process within the past year. It is with great distress that we bring to your attention the severe and unresolved challenges many of us are facing due to the non-issuance of staff IDs and the continued non-payment of salaries for nearly ten (10) months in active service.

Despite having received our appointment letters and fulfilling all professional and administrative obligations, including assuming our respective posts and performing our duties diligently, a significant number of us have still not been issued staff identification numbers. Even among those who have successfully received staff IDs, their salaries have not been paid.

THE DEVASTATING IMPACTS ON AFFECTED TEACHERS

This unfortunate situation has led to numerous hardships, including but not limited to:

1. Severe financial strain, with many teachers unable to afford basic living expenses, rent, utilities, and transportation to work.

2. Emotional and psychological stress, as the uncertainty of our employment status and lack of remuneration continue to affect morale and productivity.

3. Erosion of trust in the GES recruitment and administrative systems, especially among young professionals who entered the service with high hopes and commitment.

4. Threats of eviction, inability to repay loans or cater for dependents, and in some cases, withdrawal from essential teaching responsibilities due to financial pressure.

We understand through unofficial communication that the financial clearance under which we were recruited has expired, which might be contributing to this delay. However, the responsibility for such technical or bureaucratic lapses should not be unfairly borne by teachers who have already been appointed and are actively serving the nation.

OUR HUMBLE REQUEST FOR IMMEDIATE ACTION

In light of the urgent nature of this matter, we respectfully call on the Ghana Education Service to:

1. Engage the Ministry of Finance immediately to secure an emergency extension or revalidation of financial clearance for all affected teachers.

2. Fast-track the issuance of staff IDs to all teachers who are yet to receive them, in collaboration with the appropriate departments.

3. Process and release all salary arrears due to the affected teachers from the date of assumption of duty.

4. Communicate transparently and regularly with affected teachers on the status of the resolution process.

We remain committed to our roles as educators and contributors to the educational development of our motherland, but we can no longer continue under such economically unsustainable and emotionally taxing conditions.

We believe that a swift and compassionate response from your high office will restore the confidence and morale of the many patriotic teachers currently affected by this unfortunate situation. We look forward to your prompt and positive response. Please accept the assurances of our highest regards.
